Social Media Campaign for Rockarchive.com

  • The concept
  • The winner
  • The results

Rockarchive.com is a website/online shop full of stunning rock photography. Set up ten years ago by renowned photographer Jill Furmanovsky the site is a favourite of music and photography fans around the world. The Vine was brought on board by Dewsign to create a bespoke social media campaign that would engage fans and allow them to interact with the brand.

The Vine set up social media profiles for Rockarchive including a Facebook fan page and a Twitter profile. We created and managed a weekly live music photography competition run exclusively through Facebook & Twitter entitled #FRIDAYFOTO which offered the opportunity for the winner to have their work showcased on Rockarchive.com. Entrants posted links to their images (using sites such as Twitpic and Flickr) to the Rockarchive profiles. Each Friday the team would select a winner which was posted the following Monday and an overall winner was selected after 8 weeks.

The competition was so popular and the Rockarchive team was so impressed by the standard that they decided to also offer a free print of the winning image. The #FRIDAYFOTO competition got people talking about and interacting with Rockarchive online as fans/followers shared their opinions and congratulations. Each time a winner’s page was created it pushed lots of traffic to the main website and the overall brand awareness of Rockarchive online was increased throughout the campaign.
