I (Lotte) spent a very chilly but sunny Easter weekend in Devon and managed to finally pop into the Museum of British Surfing in Braunton. I caught up with Pete Robinson, whose enthusiasm for preserving and sharing Britain’s surfing heritage is infectious. The current exhibition Sixties Surfer is full of incredible boards and memorabilia, including the awesome Drag Shute (pictured)!? It’s well worth a visit and the team has big plans for the future so check it out http://www.museumofbritishsurfing.org.uk.
We’re very happy to be working with Uzma Bozai again and have just completed the Autumn/Winter 13 look book photo shoot. It’s a stunning collection with incredible craftsmanship and classic cuts, more photos to come but in the meantime here’s a sneak behind the scenes.

Yesterday, was a cold, snowy day in Cornwall. So naturally we thought we’d head over to Roskilly’s farm, where they make delicious…ice cream (amongst other warmer items!). You may have seen Roskilly’s popped up on Cornwall with Caroline Quentin last night, experimenting with a Cornish cream tea ice cream! We’ve been training the Roskilly’s team so they can make more of their social media marketing to share stories and engage with their fans.

A very hectic few days was rounded off in awesome style last Friday at the West of England CIPR PRide Awards. We walked away with the gold award in the Integrated Communications category for our work on Ignite 2012 which included a mix of channels such as public relations, marketing and advertising. We feel really lucky to have had a fantastic client in Oxford Innovation that embraced our ideas and some great creative partners including Stranger Collective and Yee Illustration. To celebrate we went on a boat tour of Bristol and splashed out on hot chocolate with the works - rock n’ roll.
Last night The Vine team headed over to Heartlands in Pool, Cornwall for the grand final of the Ignite 2012 competition. We were thrilled when it was announced that RCH Marine Renewables was the Ignite 2012 winner. The business is developing a system which turns seawater into freshwater using wave power. Pretty clever idea and we think you’ll agree a very deserving winner. Russ and Chris (the ones with the big smiles) were interviewed by Daphne Skinnard from BBC Radio Cornwall along with Dr Simon Gill from Ignite. All in all a rather successfully evening we thought.

Hannah headed off to BBC Radio Cornwall earlier this week as The Vine had secured an interview with Tiffany Truscott for Ignite 2012. Since the shortlist was announced last month the ten finalists have been busy working with their Oxford Innovation coaches to produce a business plan. These have now been submitted and the judges will be reviewing them in advance of the finale event on Thursday 18th October at Heartlands, Pool when live pitches will take place. Two of the lucky finalists Nadia from Nadia’s Biscotti & Denzil from Moviebees joined Oxford Innovation’s Dr Simon Gill to discuss the Ignite 2012 process and how winning the competition would boost their businesses. We’ll be at the finale event next week so follow us on Twitter @thevine_hello for updates.
Tamla Motown and Northern Soul fans around the world are mourning the loss of Frank Wilson - the man that gave us one of the greatest floor-fillers known to man - Do I Love You (Indeed I Do). He also wrote and produced for many in the Motown stable but he’ll always be known for making one of the rarest soul sides around. The Guardian has a full obituary with the story behind this incredible man and the track.
