As you may of guessed from our photos on Facebook and Twitter (primarily of James Dean and the Christmas tree) Christmas hit The Vine HQ this week. With this year’s HO HO Soul playlist singing out and a mad 15 minutes filled with tinsel, baubles and cut-out snowmen the office was transformed into a festive wonderland.
Also this week a flurry of On The Vine in December newsletters appeared in inboxes across the land. If you missed it never fear, you can have a little peek just here.
We are very pleased to inform you that after smashing its Wefund target The Parabola Project Issue II: Quickening has been sent to print and will officially launch on Tuesday (29th). If you like mince pies, winter Pimms and a good story we suggest you head down to The Rum Bar at 7:30pm to help celebrate the rather remarkable talent that The Parabola Project showcases. Oh and not forgetting that this will also be your first chance to get your hands on a copy. See you there.
If you’re in London around the end of the month we suggest you pop into the Vyner Street Gallery in East London to see a fascinating exhibition of work by visual artist, Lisa Snook. The Ecstasy of Memory exhibition will showcase Lisa’s latest work, which draws from a deep interest in Thanatology, the study of death. The exhibition will add a powerful voice to our cultural and social understanding of mortality and Lisa will be talking about her work at the gallery on the 2nd of December at 2pm. So if you’re in need of a healthy dose of culture head to East London between the 29th of November and the 4th of December. Oh and one more thing, it is absolutely free!
Opening times: 11am - 5pm daily (Thursday 1st December open until 9pm)

Last Friday we made our way up to Bristol for the CIPR PRide awards. As you may remember we were nominated in the category of Best Campaign Under £10,000 for our work on Open Studios Cornwall. Sadly we didn’t win but had a great night, with Chelsea Rose cocktails served in teacups and spending much of the night on the dance floor and in the pop up casino!
With moustache season nearly upon us we thought it would be apt to tell you about a nifty way you can donate to Movember. This November, A Suit That Fits are supporting Movember in their quest to raise awareness of prostate cancer by creating a bespoke tweed suit jacket. This tweed sensation is equipped with a pocket for your moustache comb and embroidered with a gold moustache. £25 from every jacket goes to Movember, so now there is no excuse not to own a tweed jacket. Dapper indeed.
We would like to say thank you to everyone who donned their bowling and dancing shoes and attended Soul-A-Rama last night, we had a great time and hope you did to. With DJs Frootful and Yakety Yak in charge of the turntables the night was a true 50s hit. Our very clever photographers Gabi May and Alastair Nicol documented the evening beautifully and we thought we would give you a little taste of how the evening went down. Keep your eyes peeled for more Soul-A-Rama images popping up over the next week.
Just in case you haven’t heard on Thursday the 6th of October The Vine will be celebrating its 3rd birthday in true 50s style with a spot of bowling accompanied by a side of soul. To get you in the mood we have rummaged through the archives and found this rather informative film about bowling. Enjoy and remember “street shoes are not allowed on the lanes”.
If you have been keeping a beady eye on our Tweets you might have figured out that we are planning a party. We can now reveal it’s The Vine’s third birthday party and yes you’ve guessed it we’re going bowling - 50s style. The invites are being printed and will be posted out via snail mail hot off the press so keep your eyes out for the postie. If you fancy popping along rsvp here.
