22.09.08 Favourite Things…

I’ve have been so busy moving into the new office that I haven’t really had the time to enjoy all the great things that I’ve collected to inspire me. So here’s my top five favourite office items.

1) Philips ‘Teenager’ original 60s record player. This little beauty was an ebay purchase and it came from the Netherlands, I know this because along with the instructions, the seller included a card which said “Greetings from the Netherlands”. I love it, all it was missing was a little Motown. As you may of guessed I love my music, you can find some of my girl group musings here.

2) Speaking of Detroit’s finest, my second favourite office purchase was an amazing photograph of the Motown Revue in London. I find it almost impossible to imagine a group of people this talented all together, David Ruffin, Smokey, The Supremes , the mind boggles.

3) Original sheet music for Baby, I’m For Real. Written by Marvin and Anna Gaye and sung by the unsung heroes of Hitsville The Originals, this song is one of my all time favourites.

4) Fonzie Favourites. Miraculously, I am not the only person I know with this record (you know who you are!). This great album is jam packed with 50s classics from Little Richard, Carl Perkins and the like but the highlight is the Happy Days Theme. And just when you though it couldn’t get any better, the back of the cover has a pop out arm so you can prop up the Fonz anywhere you like.

5) The Vine’s new business cards are cropping up everywhere at the moment. I’m really happy with the way they have turned out so thanks to the lovely guys and A Side Studio for all their hard work.
6) Issue 14 of Stranger Magazine. This was a fantastic issue to work on and this particular copy was made all the more special when it was signed, in person by Laird Hamilton when I went to interview him at The Wavehouse in Bude.
