Falmouth girl and University College Falmouth Public Relations student Leila Heppell has begun a summer internship with The Vine, an independent marketing agency for lifestyle brands and creative businesses.
The Vine, which was set up in 2008 by Lotte Mahon, is a boutique marketing agency in Falmouth with clients such as Kernow Clothing, Grammy award winning artist Ben Harper and live music event, Falmouth Sound.
Lotte who previously worked as assistant publisher for Stranger Magazine and UK marketing manager for Guava, has an extensive array of experience and has built up a wealth of contacts both locally and nationally since the business started last year.
Leila has already begun working on promoting a large-scale local event, Falmouth Sound. The event which will be held over the August bank holiday weekend (29th and 30th) will feature headliners The Wombats and The Wailers with supporting acts such as Fink and The Neville Staple Band.
Although Leila has previously undertaken internships with Giorgio Armani, The Big Lunch and Halpern PR in London, the opportunity for her to take part in a summer long internship in Cornwall is priceless.
Leila commented: “Although my internships in London have been extremely rewarding for me, it’s great to be able to work with a dynamic agency in Falmouth, and learn a bit more about how PR is done on both a local and national scale.”
Once a University College Falmouth student herself, Lotte is keen to help local students by providing quality internships but admits that her business will benefit also:
“I’ve been so busy ever since I started The Vine so it’s been a real luxury to have Leila around to get stuck into the fantastic client projects that we currently have running.”
When it came to giving Leila her first assignment Lotte felt that she should give her the opportunity to write about something she knew, so Leila has produced this press release!
