I’m ridiculously excited about heading to London on Friday to check out the “History of The Supremes” exhibition at the V&A. I’ve come to the conclusion Motown is one of the best examples of quality marketing I can think of. Everything that the public saw was considered, from the movements acts made on stage to the way they spoke to their audiences. The results that etiquette coach Maxine Powell achieved and Berry Gordy’s infamous product testing process helped Motown make history. And not to leave Stax out - Al Bell‘s promotion-skills in the sixties made stars of Otis Redding and Issac Hayes so we have a lot to thank him for.
